Claimr stands with Ukraine

In February 2022 the Russian Federation launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine, a sovereign state that presented no threat to it. In the years since, Russian forces have struck residential buildings, hospitals, schools, power stations and ports, and Russian authorities have deported Ukrainian children. These are not the incidental costs of a conflict between two comparable parties. They are the chosen methods of the aggressor.

Claimr condemns that invasion without qualification. The company supports Ukraine’s sovereignty, its territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders, and the right of Ukrainians to decide their own future. We do not offer this as a balanced view of a disputed matter, because the matter is not in dispute.

Claimr’s founders, Adrian Serbanescu and Maksym Rodionov, spent 6.5 years together at Ubisoft Ukraine. Adrian led the studio as General Manager, during which it grew from 80 people to 1,200. Maksym served as Technical Director, with engineering teams working on Assassin’s Creed and Ghost Recon. The about page sets out that history in full.

The practices this company is built on, progression, motivation and the reasons people return to a product, were developed in that studio alongside Ukrainian colleagues. Many of them remain in Ukraine today. Some are serving in the armed forces. Several have been killed. A company that owes its craft to those colleagues is not in a position to treat their war as somebody else’s news.

Claimr sells into Web3, a market in which vendors are generally expected to keep clear of political subjects. The company is aware that this page costs it opportunities, and that it has already done so.

The position is not a matter for commercial negotiation, and it will not be softened, moved out of sight or withdrawn for a particular account. Prospective customers, partners and investors are welcome to read it in advance and draw their own conclusions. The flag remains on the home page for as long as the invasion continues.
